Family Group Decision Making
Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) is a meeting about your family. It brings together your family, relatives, friends, caseworker, and community supports in a positive way to work as a team. We offer this a voluntary community service available to all families living in Lycoming County.
We Realize That The Strength of the Family Lies Within.
Family Group Decision Making helps you make important family decisions.
We help focus on your strengths, address concerns and help you and your family develop a plan you approve.
We then provide support for your decisions and your plan.
We Help In The Following Ways
Bring together your family and friends to help make important family decisions
Identify family and friends to provide you with positive support
Allows your family to resolve family concerns
Support adult family members to reduce life stressors
Assure the well-being and the safety of your children
Ask family who could provide temporary care of your children
Develop a visitation plan and/or custody plan
Get on the same page to move forward in a positive direction
Strengthen your family
What Is A Family Group Decision Making Meeting?
A meeting is for you and your support members to address an issue of concern within your family
Is a voluntary service in the community available to all families
A trained coordinator brings together your invited family group and the agency staff
Is family driven. You invite your family, extended family, friends and community supports to attend this meeting
Is a one-time family meeting; allowing for a follow-up meeting if you choose
You decide where you want to hold the meeting
You and your family group members work together
A plan is developed by the family group members during the meeting
Then a plan is typed up after the meeting and distributed to your group members
Is provided at no cost to you or your family
